Residential Concrete Services

Curb & Gutter
Installation

Professional curb and gutter for Utah County homeowners. Poured right the first time by owner Bryce Jones.

What We Do

What Is Curb & Gutter and
Why Does Your Property Need It?

Curb and gutter is the raised concrete border that runs along the edge of a street, driveway, or landscaped area. The curb is the vertical face. The gutter is the flat channel that directs water toward storm drains.

Without proper curb and gutter, water flows wherever gravity takes it. That often means erosion along your driveway edge, standing water in your yard, and a property that looks unfinished.

Benefits

Why Your Property Needs Curb & Gutter

On residential properties, curb and gutter serves several important purposes beyond just appearance.

Water Management

Channels rain and snowmelt away from your foundation, yard, and driveway.

Edge Containment

Keeps gravel, mulch, and soil from migrating onto pavement or neighboring lots.

Property Line Definition

Creates a clean, permanent boundary between your property and the street or adjacent land.

Driveway Borders

Frames your driveway approach for a finished, professional look.

Landscape Containment

Holds planting beds, rock borders, and turf sections in place.

Curb Profiles

Types of Curb & Gutter We Install

Three main profiles for residential properties across Utah County. The right choice depends on your property's layout, vehicle access, and local requirements.

Standard Vertical Curb
6" tall

Standard Vertical Curb

The classic L-shaped profile you see along most neighborhood streets. The vertical face stands 6 inches tall with a flat gutter pan that slopes toward the drain line.

Best for street-side frontage, subdivision edges, and anywhere you need a strong barrier between pavement and landscaping. Most common profile required by Utah County municipalities.

Rolled Curb (Mountable)
4–6" tall

Rolled Curb (Mountable)

A gentle, rounded profile instead of a sharp vertical face. Vehicles can drive over it without scraping.

Preferred for driveway approaches, RV access points, and rural residential streets. Popular in Utah County’s newer developments for its clean, modern look.

Barrier Curb
8"+ tall

Barrier Curb

Taller and steeper than standard curb, designed to prevent vehicles from leaving the roadway.

Ideal for parking areas, steep grades, and property edges near slopes or retaining walls where a physical deterrent is needed.

Pricing

How to Estimate Curb & Gutter Cost

Cost depends on three factors: linear footage, site preparation, and profile type. Here's what to expect for residential work in Utah County.

Typical Project

$1K–$4.5K

What Affects Your Final Price

Existing curb removal adds labor and disposal costs
Soft or poorly compacted soil may need additional base prep
Barrier curb uses more concrete per foot than rolled curb
Tight spaces, steep grades, or long carry distances add time
Some projects need steel reinforcement depending on conditions

Does curb and gutter need rebar?

Not always. On stable, well-compacted subgrade, residential curb often performs well without rebar. However, rebar is recommended when the curb handles vehicle loads, soil is unstable, or local code requires it. Bryce evaluates every site individually.

Our Process

Curb & Gutter Installation Process

Owner Bryce Jones is on every job site from layout to finishing. A two-person, father-and-son crew from start to finish.

01

Site Evaluation & Estimate

Bryce visits your property, measures the run, checks the subgrade, identifies drainage direction, and discusses your goals. You get a written estimate with no obligation.

02

Layout & Forming

We stake the alignment, set grade for proper water flow, and build the forms to the correct profile. This step determines whether your curb drains correctly and looks straight.

03

Subgrade Preparation

We compact the soil beneath the forms and add base material where needed. A solid subgrade prevents settling, cracking, and uneven sections.

04

Pouring & Finishing

We pour in continuous sections, vibrate the concrete to eliminate air pockets, and finish the surface to a smooth, uniform profile. Control joints go in at regular intervals.

05

Curing & Cleanup

We protect the fresh concrete from rapid drying and temperature extremes, strip the forms once set, backfill the edges, and leave your site clean.

Because we only take 1 to 2 projects at a time, your curb and gutter job gets our full attention. No subcontractors. No split focus.

FAQ

Common Questions About Curb & Gutter

The combination of a vertical curb face and a flat drainage channel is called "curb and gutter" or sometimes "integral curb and gutter" when both pieces are poured as one unit. You may also hear it called a "curb return" at corners or "valley gutter" for shallow drainage channels.
Measure the total length (in feet) of the area where you want curb installed. Multiply that by the cost per linear foot ($20–$30) for a ballpark estimate. For an accurate number, you need an on-site evaluation to account for subgrade work, removal of old curb, and the specific profile you need.
Properly installed curb and gutter on a solid subgrade lasts 20 to 30 years or more in Utah’s climate. The biggest threats are poor drainage beneath the curb, heavy vehicle impact, and tree root pressure. Quality installation and correct base preparation are the best defenses.
Yes. If you need to extend or replace a section of existing curb, we match the profile, height, and finish of the surrounding work as closely as possible.
Spring through fall gives you the best conditions. We avoid pouring when temperatures are below freezing or when heavy rain is in the forecast. Most residential curb projects take one to two days on site, so the weather window is manageable. Bryce schedules pours around Utah County’s conditions to ensure proper curing.
It depends on your city and the scope of work. Some Utah County municipalities require permits for curb work that affects the public right-of-way. Work on your private property (like driveway borders or landscape containment) typically does not need a permit. Bryce can advise based on your project location.
Not always. Residential curb and gutter on stable, well-compacted subgrade often performs well without rebar, relying on proper thickness, mix design, and control joints instead. However, rebar is recommended when the curb will handle vehicle loads, when soil conditions are unstable, or when local code requires it. Bryce evaluates every site individually.
